This policy describes how PoolBuddy ("we," "us") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the PoolBuddy app and the related services at poolbuddy.ai. PoolBuddy is operated by Radians Per Second Squared, LLC ("Rad/s2").
TL;DR
- We collect almost nothing. No account. No tracking SDK. No ad network. No third-party identifiers.
- What we do collect is the data you choose to feed into PoolBuddy — sensor recordings during a scan, photos of your pool equipment, water test readings, service tickets, and feedback.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third-party advertisers, data brokers, or marketers.
- You control your data. You can see exactly what's about to be uploaded before any feedback submission. You can delete pools, scans, photos, and tests at any time.
What we collect, and why
When you use PoolBuddy, the following data may be created or captured:
- Pool details — address, equipment list, water volume, surface type, sanitizer type. You enter these manually. Used to anchor recommendations and weather context to your location.
- Sensor recordings during scans — motion, sound, and environmental signals captured only while you have explicitly started a scan. These signals are the diagnostic input. The microphone is not active outside of a scan.
- Photos — equipment photos, test-strip photos, walkthrough imagery, supply photos. Captured only when you tap a photo control.
- Water test results — entered manually, parsed from a store-test PDF, or read from a connected sensor.
- Service tickets, journal notes, feedback submissions, and voice notes — content you author inside PoolBuddy.
- In-app interaction breadcrumbs — view navigations, button taps, and uncaught errors. Stored locally and surfaced inside the feedback drawer's "what just happened" payload so you can attach them to a bug report. You see and can redact each piece before submitting.
- Crash and error data — written to a local diagnostic log so they can inform fixes. Not sent to any third-party crash-reporting service.
- Health pulse — counts of open service tickets, water tests, scans, journal notes, for use in the app's own dashboards.
We do not collect:
- Your name, email, phone number, or any other personal identifier (unless you choose to email us)
- Browsing history outside the app
- Contacts, calendar, photos library outside what you explicitly attach
- Advertising or marketing identifiers
- Health data
- Financial or payment information
How we use it
The data above is used to:
- Run the PoolBuddy app — render your pool's status, generate diagnoses, build recommendations
- Improve PoolBuddy over time — anonymous diagnostic signals contribute to better models for everyone
- Respond to your feedback when you submit it
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale.
Where your data lives
- On your iPhone — drafts, breadcrumbs, the active pool selection, app preferences
- On the PoolBuddy backend — scan recordings, photos, tests, outcomes, feedback
- Third-party services we call in a limited and explicit way: an AI model provider (when you use the chat or feedback-clustering features), and a weather provider (your pool's coordinates only, for chemistry context). Apple captures install and update telemetry independently from us.
We do not pool your data with other PoolBuddy users in any way that would identify you.
How long we keep it
- On-device data — until you delete the pool, clear the app, or uninstall.
- On-server data — until you delete the pool, or until we retire the backend.
- Feedback submissions — retained as roadmap context for as long as the roadmap exists. You can ask for any submission to be deleted.
Your rights
You can, at any time:
- See what's about to be uploaded — before any feedback submission, PoolBuddy shows you the auto-attached payload. Tap any chip to remove it before submitting.
- Delete a pool, scan, photo, or test — from the relevant detail view in the app.
- Request deletion of feedback or roadmap entries — email the contact below.
- Request a copy of your data — email the contact below; we'll provide an export of everything tied to your pool.
Children
PoolBuddy is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently received such data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We follow reasonable security practices appropriate for the data we hold. Data in transit travels over an encrypted tunnel between your phone and the PoolBuddy backend. Despite these measures, no internet-connected system is fully secure; you use PoolBuddy at your own risk.
Changes
We may update this policy as the product changes. The "last updated" date at the top will reflect the latest change. Continued use of PoolBuddy after a change means you accept it.
